Equipment & Kit

At TRAILDOG Events we aim to make our events inclusive, friendly and fun.

We are proud and honoured to have a partnership with Non-stop dogwear, which means we have a wide selection of their kit to try at our events.

At all TRAILDOG Events, you will be able to try on Non-stop dogwear kit for both you and your dog and sign it out to trial whilst running at the event (subject to availability, first come first served).  This includes harnesses (Freemotion & Line Harness), bungees and CaniX belts.

This is also handy if you've forgotten to pack anything!

We know that not all dogs and humans suit one brand; everyone is different, as are running styles.

If you are running in the canicross wave, you must be wearing the correct canicross equipment (properly fitted dog harness, bungee line and human belt). If you are unsure about what harness is suitable, our friends at Sporty Paws can offer guidance on which harness is best for your dog.

We have used Sporty Paws for equipment and can’t fault them. They allow you to try the equipment on a non-muddy run/walk and return for a different size/style in the unlikely event that the items are unsuitable.

Head over to sportypaws.co.uk to have a look -  LSTRAILDOG10 will get you 10% off.

Canicross Clubs - another way of getting advice on getting into canicross and the fitting of harnesses is to contact your local canicross club. They will likely have a kit bag with an assortment of harnesses you could try before buying online. If you are in the North East, your local Club is 'Geordie Cani-Sports' (you can search for the group on Facebook) who regularly meet for social runs and also host beginner runs for those wanting to take their first steps into canicross.

Run to Heel

For those running with their dogs but not canicross style, we would still advise a good fitting y-front harness and bungee line. Events can be both exciting and daunting for dogs and their natural instinct is to pull and follow the other dogs; being in a harness alongside a bungee line will be a lot more comfortable for both human and dog.

If you are confident that your dog will run to heel, we are happy for your dog to wear a normal collar and lead as long as both you and your dog are comfortable.

Walking

If you are walking the event, there is no need for any specific equipment; just use what you would normally use on your day to day walks!
